The Car PC is an embedded system based on the Intel® CPU PXA255, and uses the Microsoft® WinCE.net 4.2 operating system. Its design lends itself to many applications, such as car navigation and security, and entertainment as well. It uses a 7" color TFT LCD touch screen display that can be rotated to allow for both landscape and portrait viewing modes. For GPS functionality, a smart GPS antenna can be connected using USB or RS232 connections, or by using a GPS CF card. Maps can be downloaded from a CF memory card into the Car PC.

The Car PC also includes analog video and audio inputs - you can watch movies in your car when connected to a video source such as a VCD/DVD player or a camcorder. When plugged into wireless CF devices such as GSM, CDMA, or PHS cards, the Car PC can connect to the Internet via WinCE's web browser. This opens up a wealth of possibilities, such as value-added car services like emergency call functions, interactive city guides, and increased car security.
