  Answers

A1 What iPAQ models does the FlyJacket i3800 support?
The FlyJacket i3800 is compatible with all models in the H3600, H3700 and H3800 series. For further details regarding system requirements, please check under System Requirements.

A2 Will the FlyJacket i3800 be able to output to my flat panel LCD monitor?
Yes, the FlyJacket i3800 is able to provide VGA output to flat panel LCD monitors that meet or support Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) VGA frequency standards. We have based the FlyJacket i3800 VGA output frequencies on those that are promulgated by VESA mainly because it is the most widely adapted standard. A majority of LCD VGA monitors have a range of frequency values supported for output at 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768 resolutions that fall within VESA frequency standards. However, some LCD VGA monitors don't follow this standard.
The table below indicates the VESA VGA frequency standards that the FlyJacket i3800 is currently supporting.

Resolution Horizontal Frequency Vertical Frequency
640x480 31.5 KHz 60 Hz
800x600 37.9 KHz 60 Hz
1024x768 48.4 KHz 60 Hz

A3 Is it possible to capture still images using the FlyJacket i3800?
Yes, capturing still images is possible using either the bundled IA Image Capture or the FlyViewMax application (click here for free download). The IA Image Capture application allows the image to be captured in a choice of 3 file formats -JPEG, BMP and GIF.

A4 Is it possible to record full motion video using the FlyJacket i3800?
Now is available . Please download the latest IA Capture software .

A5 Can I access data stored on a CompactFlash card while using the FlyJacket i3800?
Certainly. The FlyJacket i3800 is equipped with a fully compliant CompactFlash slot (Type I /II) that is specifically designed to handle this functionality. That means that you have total access to data stored on any CF Type I or Type II card including presentation files, image files simply by inserting the card into the FlyJacket i3800CF slot.

A6 Does the FlyJacket i3800 require connection to a power adapter during operation?
No, the FlyJacket i3800 does not require connection to a power adapter during operation. When the FlyJacket i3800's internal battery power is drained, charging via the iPAQ power adapter is required.

A7 Will the FlyJacket i3800 drain power from the iPAQ main battery?
Never. The FlyJacket i3800 receives its power solely from its internal battery and not from the iPAQ. The FlyJacket i3800's design prevents it from feeding off the iPAQ main battery - even when near empty.

A8 Is it possible to connect my camcorder and output video to my TV simultaneously using the FlyJacket i3800?
No. The FlyJacket i3800 can only perform video input OR video output tasks, but not both simultaneously.

A9 How long can I expect the FlyJacket i3800 battery to last on a full charge?
A reasonable range is between 1.5 to 2 hours providing no power consuming device such as a Microdrive is connected in addition to the display device.

A10 Is it possible to use presentation or image viewing applications other than those included in the IA PowerMedia Suite?
Yes. The FlyJacket i3800 is now fully supported by Conduits Pocket Slides in addition to IA PowerMedia Suite.

A11 Can I preview video full-screen on my iPAQ?
Yes. To preview video full-screen, simply run the IA Capture application (free download) and have a video input device such as a camcorder or VCR connected to your FlyJacket i3800.

A12 Is there a presentation tool included in the FlyJacket i3800 package?
Yes. The FlyJacket i3800 package includes a pen-sized remote control / laser pointer. One end of the pen functions as a laser beam while the opposite end emits an infrared signal to the FlyJacket i3800 to advance or return to previous slides/images when using IA Presenter and IA Album.

  Answers

ATTENTION: Since many FlyJacket i3800 operation problems can be traced to two causes, an uncharged battery and outdated driver versions, it is recommend that owners observe the following:

- Charge FlyJacket i3800 battery 3 hours before initial use.
- Install the most recently updated FlyJacket i3800 driver.

A1 I can't get my remote control device to work.
If you are experiencing difficulties with the remote control device, please review the following:
  - Make sure that ALL 6 batteries provided were properly inserted.

  - Remember that the remote control is for use with IA Presenter and IA Album applications for slideshow page up/ down and image advance, respectively.
  - The batteries might be low or have insufficient charge. Please purchase a replacement set according to the table below.

ID LR41
Type Alkaline, 1.5V Button Cell
A2 It takes several seconds for the slide to advance during a slideshow on IA Presenter when I use the infrared remote control.
It is normal to experience a delayed response. The cause for the hesitation is NOT related to the FlyJacket i3800, rather it involves several other factors (application processing speed, iPAQ memory, file size, etc) involved with processing the 'infrared command'.
A3 If have connected a camcorder / VCR to the FlyJacket, what application do I use to preview video?
Use the IA Image Capture application included in the IA Style® PowerMedia Suite software bundle. Simply go to the Programs menu and tap on IA Image Capture icon to launch the program.
A4 I keep getting error messages when trying to connect a Microdrive™.
Please consult the Microdrive™ manufacturer's website for information on downloading and installing the latest driver version.
A5 When I use IA Presenter, the slide appears cutoff on the projector screen or LCD VGA monitor. What should I do?
  - To correct this problem, follow one of the two steps indicated:
Use the "Refresh/Auto-sync" feature (available on newer model projectors)
  - Alternately
From the projector/LCD monitor menu, adjust the H-position setting as required until the correct position is achieved.
A6 How do I recharge the FlyJacket i3800 battery?
All that is required to recharge is the iPAQ power adapter. Refer to the FlyJacket i3800 User's Guide for a more detailed description of the 4 methods of recharging.
A7 I launch the IA Presenter application and select my presentation file, but I don't see anything on my VGA display. Why?
In order to view a presentation, it is necessary to define the proper settings in the application. For viewing a presentation on a VGA device using IA Presenter, simply tap on Tools / Options / VGA Output to configure your output settings and then tap View / VGA Slide Show.
A8 There is "flickering" or "noise" on the VGA display.
These types of display errors occur when old FlyJacket i3800 drivers are installed. Please go here to download the latest version.
A9 Why does the battery meter on the PowerShow application indicate an incorrect value or none at all?
The first release of the PowerShow application had a tendency to display inaccurate battery levels. This error has been corrected in the newer version available here..
A10 If I power off my iPAQ, will it also shutdown the FlyJacket i3800?
No, since the FlyJacket i3800 battery functions independently from the iPAQ battery. To power off the FlyJacket i3800 requires closing the LifeView Shadow application by tapping on the EXIT button or the OK button (upper right-hand corner) from within the program.
A11 Why is the iPAQ performance so slow when connected to the FlyJacket i3800?
When the iPAQ is connected to the FlyJacket i3800, and a program like IA Presenter or IA Album is open, the Flyjacket display drivers are also running in the background. It is this resulting demand on iPAQ's limited memory from multiple programs working that creates processing delays.
A12 When the LifeView Shadow driver is loaded if the FlyJacket is removed, then will cause the iPAQ display to vibrate and shake, why?
Basically, Lifeview Shadow is an active driver that will always look for the corresponding hardware. To prevent the display vibration and shake when you want to remove the FlyJacket, you need to press the OK or Exit button to turn off the LifeView Shadow driver.
A12 When I'm using the Composite or the S-Video output at my PAL TV, the picture is only displayed in the upper two-thirds of the TV-display and it is compressed , any update driver to solve this problem?
Please update the latest FlyJacket driver
